PRO FAMILIA CENTRE (ASCODE) - CHISINAU
How much?
In November 2007 Moldova Vision awarded €5,000 towards the running costs of the Pro-Familia Centre in Chisinau for a 4 month period. The Pro-Familia Centre has ongoing financial support from other sources but had a 4 month shortfall, whereby the Centre would have closed unless funding was made available.
Why?
The Association ASCODE (Assistance of Children with Disabilities) a nongovernmental, non-commercial and non-profit organisation, has the goal of multiple (social, psychological, psycho-pedagogical, informational, medical) rehabilitation of children of an early age (0-4 years old) with various psycho-neuro and motor deficiencies, and the reduction of the number of institutionalised children. The Association has created a Day-care Center “PRO FAMILIA” in Chisinau city in 2000, an centre that deals with socially un-adapted children with deficiencies, especially from vulnerable and poor families, which provides free of charge services for them and encourages social integration. The Pro Familia Centre is one of only two early intervention centres in Moldova.

Mission: Developing the practice of early assistance for child with special needs (CSEN).
Main Objectives:
The program of interdisciplinary rehabilitation of children with disabilities of the Day-care Center “PRO FAMILIA” is designed to provide:
- a complex of services (social, psychological, educational, informational, medical) for the disabled children, thus facilitating their integration in family and society;
- access to multiple rehabilitation for children from orphanages;
- access to care, protection, physical and mental treatment, periodical check of efficiency;
- extensive free-of-charge assistance affordable for all the socially vulnerable children;
- providing information and training for parents on the particularities of their children, and therefore, encouraging the stay of the child in the family;
- innovative programs for social development of the disabled children;
- alternative methods of care
