Who we are
Background
MV was started by Irish volunteers who met in Moldova in 2003 whilst working at an orphanage for children with disabilities. Many trips and several years later, we decided to set up MV to help Moldovan organisations working to tackle poverty from the ground up. Rather than impose a foreign ‘solution’ to social problems we want to encourage and support Moldovan projects. Until every community in Moldova has good quality health, education and social services, children and adults will continue to be sent to institutions and orphanages, away from their families and communities.
Organisation Structure
MV is incorporated in Ireland as a company with limited liability and charitable status (Charity number: CHY 17129). MV is governed by a board of directors in Ireland, who are responsible for the administration of grants, fundraising and promoting the work of Moldova Vision. Moldova Vision also liaises with various organisations working in the social sector in Moldova who act in an advisory capacity for projects. Moldova Vision employs two part-time staff in Moldova.
